E&E Forum: Greg Nemet

Professor Greg Nemet from the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s La Follette’s School of Public Affairs provides an overview of the historical energy transitions in the United States, discussing the key factors that have driven these changes over the past 250 years.

Nemet dove into the challenges of energy policy such as the fluctuation of energy prices and the inconsistency of policy support, discussing the role of Project Independence in the 1970s, which aimed to reduce the U.S.’s dependence on foreign oil.

He concluded by highlighting the importance of a comprehensive approach to energy policy, including considerations of grid integration and complementary renewable energy sources.
