2025 Graduate Spotlight: Abby Zehnpfennig

2025 Graduate Spotlight: Abby Zehnpfennig

May 15, 2025

Abby Zehnpfennig is graduating with a degree in political science and two minors in French and public policy analytics. Upon graduation, Abby will start work with the Department of Defense.

Abby has engaged in a variety of academic and extracurricular activities during her time at the University of Tennessee. She developed a foundation in policy analysis and public service as a member of the Baker Scholars program and the Congressional Internship Program. Abby’s leadership skills were further honed through her roles as President of Kappa Alpha Pi Pre-Law and Government Fraternity and as a volunteer for various organizations.

Her interest in government was sparked by the Baker School, where she gained practical skills in intelligence analysis. “The Baker School initiated my interest in government and gave me the tools to succeed in a field of intelligence analysis. I was pushed out of my comfort zone and equipped with valuable skills that couldn’t have been acquired anywhere else.”

Her favorite experience at the Baker School was the Policy Lab classes, where Dr. Jon Ring consistently offered new challenges and insights. Abby is excited to continue her career in public policy and government.
