2025 Graduate Spotlight: Makaela Jo Webb

2025 Graduate Spotlight: Makaela Jo Webb

May 15, 2025

Makaela Webb is graduating with a degree in legal and political philosophy and a minor in religious studies. After graduation, she intends to stay in her hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee, and pursue a Master of Public Policy degree at the Baker School.

Through the Washington Fellows Program, she deepened her passion for civic engagement and gained valuable professional experience. Makaela was also a member of the Baker Ambassadors and the Baker School Student Association.

Her experiences outside the classroom shaped her personal and professional growth, with volunteer work such as assisting with the UT Philosophy Department’s Ethics Bowl. Makaela credits the Baker School community for giving her the confidence and skills to enter the workforce, and she looks forward to continuing her work as an East TN Grassroots Organizer for Planned Parenthood.

One of Makaela’s fondest memories is spending time with friends on the Washington Fellows trip, exploring the Monuments by Moonlight tour. She credits the student success team, including Lindsay Herrell, Erica Ury, Jordan Smith-Porter, Zoe Webb, and Dr. Jon Ring, with significantly influencing her during her time at the Baker School.

Makaela’s continued journey with the Baker School will further build upon the strong foundation she has established.
