2025 Graduate Spotlight: Skye Gerhart
Skye Gerhart, a Dayton, Ohio native and Master of Public Administration degree candidate, is gearing up for her next chapter. After commencement, she’s headed to Franklin, Tennessee, where she will serve as a Management Fellow for the City of Franklin. This role kicks off her career in city management.
Reflecting on her time at the Baker School, Skye speaks about the close-knit community she found. Her relationships with her fellow graduate assistants became one of the most meaningful parts of her time at the Baker School. “They were an amazing support system throughout grad school, and people I know will be lifelong friends,” she shares. Her journey was also shaped by the mentorship of Dr. Bill Lyons, professor emeritus and associate director of the Institute of American Civics, who left a lasting impact on her.
“The Baker School gave me experiential learning opportunities that prepared me for a career in public service,” Skye says. With both experience and personal connections, she’s ready to serve and lead in local government.
