Kappa Alpha Pi

Kappa Alpha Pi (KAPi) is the University of Tennessee’s premier pre-law and government fraternity, providing a supportive, career-focused community for more than 200 students pursuing professions in law, policy, and public service.

KAPi exists to prepare and empower students pursuing law and government-related careers. Its executive board works to ensure members have access to every possible resource, ranging from internship databases and LSAT prep materials to alumni contacts and graduate school guides.

The organization holds weekly chapter meetings often feature guest speakers ranging from FBI agents and judges to local government officials and practicing attorneys, providing members valuable firsthand insights into the realities of public service. The organization also hosts alumni panels, law school workshops, and mock application sessions designed to prepare students for every step of their journey.

Engagement and Leadership Opportunities

Recruitment

Kappa Alpha Pi hosts fall and spring recruitment, offering multiple chances for students to join each academic year.

Recruitment includes three rounds that allow candidates to demonstrate their interest and alignment with the organization’s mission. Following acceptance, new members begin a New Member Process, which introduces them to the fraternity’s structure, values, and opportunities while connecting them with mentors and peers.

Even students not selected in their first attempt are encouraged to reapply. Many of KAPi’s most active members joined after their second try.
