Biography
Dr. Jonathan Ring is a teaching assistant professor and director of undergraduate studies at the Howard H. Baker School of Public Policy and Public Affairs.
Ring’s academic work includes international relations, political institutions, and public policy, with a particular focus on how norms, cooperation, and governance structures shape global outcomes. His research has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including International Studies Review, Asian Survey, and the Journal of Peace Research.
Before joining the University of Tennessee, Ring held faculty positions at Cleveland State University and the University of Michigan, where he also served as a postdoctoral research fellow. He earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in Political Science from the University of Iowa, and his B.A. in Political Science and French from the University of South Dakota.
