Biography
Timothy Fitzgerald is an associate professor at the Howard H. Baker Jr. School of Public Policy and Public Affairs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and an economist specializing in resource and energy economics, with research spanning market structure, regulatory design, and the intersection of energy development and land use. He serves on the advisory board of Energy Research Letters, and is book review editor for The Energy Journal. He previously chaired the Physical Infrastructure Subcommittee of the Energy and Environmental Markets Advisory Committee at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and has held appointments as Associate Professor at Texas Tech University and Montana State University.
Fitzgerald also served as Senior Economist and Chief International Economist at the White House Council of Economic Advisers, advising on global energy markets, trade, and environmental policy. He has been a fellow at Resources for the Future in Washington, DC, and the Property and Environment Research Center in Bozeman, MT. His work has appeared in leading journals such as Energy Economics, Public Choice, Energy Policy, and the Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, and he is a frequent presenter at academic, policy, and industry forums.
