Global Security Co-Hosted Event
China Town Hall: Local Connections, National Reflections
The 2022 China Town Hall will be co-hosted by UT’s Center for Global Engagement, Baker Center, Haslam College of Business and TN-China Network. The event will be in a hybrid format to allow attendees to attend in person and online. The event will start by watching a national webcast featuring Jon Huntsman Jr., former US Ambassador to Russia, China and Singapore from 7–8 p.m. followed by a local panel of experts:
- Lulu Lim Copeland, Executive Director, TN-China Network
- Sara Hsu, Professor, UT Supply Chain Management
- John McDevitt, Sr. Director of Supplier Management, Radio Systems Corporation
- Dwight Nordstrom, Chairman, Pacific Resources International
- Krista Wiegand, Director, UT Global Security Program
The local panel discussion will center around how the current China-US relations are affecting local businesses, challenges and pain points and how to navigate through those. The discussion will also explore the profound impact of such relations on the local community and the university. Through engaging conversations with the panelists we hope the audience can gain a deep understanding of the implications and impact of China-US relationships on their daily life and how we can together create a welcoming community, business and campus environment that is inclusive and foster healthy conversations and encourage innovations and collaborations.
