Meet Alex Durkee! A sophomore Public Affairs major at the Baker School, Alex has already made his mark through research, leadership, and his role as a Baker Ambassador. He brings a unique perspective and a wide range of interests to our Baker School community.

Five Facts with Alex Durkee

  1. Year & Major
    Alex is a sophomore studying Public Affairs at the Baker School.
  2. Hometown
    Though born in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Alex spent most of his life in Seattle, Washington.
  3. Why He Became a Baker Ambassador
    After a standout freshman year filled with faculty connections, student research, and even starting a student organization, Alex realized he was already an enthusiastic spokesperson for the Baker School. Becoming an Ambassador felt like a natural next step.
  4. Involvement at the Institute of American Civics
    Alex is also a proud Tocqueville Scholar, where he learned firsthand the power of forming strong friendships across political differences. For him, this program has been a lesson in the importance of civil dialogue.
  5. Fun Fact
    Alex’s hobbies are as diverse as they come—he plays in the UT Symphony, enjoys outdoor rock climbing, and has what he calls a “mild obsession” with strategy games.
