Admiral Harry Harris Visits the Baker Center as Part of the Ashe Lecture Series

Former U.S. Ambassador to South Korea and commander of the U.S. Pacific Command, Adm. Harry Harris, will speak at the Howard Baker Center for Public Policy in the Toyota Auditorium on Tuesday, August 30, as part of the Ashe Lecture Series.
Born in Japan and raised in Crossville, Harris was promoted to admiral in 2013 and assumed command of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Harris assumed command of U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM) in May 2015, the 24th commander since USPACOM was established Jan. 1, 1947.
The Ashe Lecture was established in 2012 with funding provided by former Knoxville mayor and U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Victor Ashe. Invited speakers include ambassadors and mayors who are asked to speak on a variety of public policy matters, including foreign relations, diplomacy, world affairs, and local government.
