John Stavick
Assistant Professor
John Stavick is an Assistant Professor of Budget and Finance at the Howard H. Baker Jr. School of Public Policy and Public Affairs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He specializes in state tax administration and the consequences of budget-balancing decisions on the public workforce. Stavick teaches public financial administration and brings over a decade of experience in both academic and applied public finance.
Prior to joining the Baker School, he served as an economist with the Nebraska Department of Revenue and as a fiscal analyst at the OpenSky Policy Institute. His research has appeared in journals such as Public Budgeting & Finance, Public Finance Review, and American Review of Public Administration. Stavick holds a Ph.D. in public affairs from Indiana University’s O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
