Simeon Burns

Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, Institute of American Civics

Simeon Burns is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow for the Institute of American Civics. He received his PhD from Louisiana State University in 2023 with a dissertation titled The Republics of Plato: A Dramatic Interpretation of the Early Cities in Plato’s Republic. His research is in the history of political thought and his dissertation was a commentary of Books II-III of Plato’s Republic. He’s taught courses in American Government, Ethics, Political Theory, and International Politics. Burns was a LSU Sidney Richards Moore Fellowship twice, from 2017-2018 and again 2021-2022, and received the Eric Voeglin Scholars and Publications Award in 2022. He teaches the IAC’s Construction and Reconstruction of the American Republic course.
