Building Stronger Communities: MPA Online Student Kory Robinson

Building Stronger Communities: MPA Online Student Kory Robinson

September 30, 2025

September 30, 2025

Meet Kory Robinson, an MPA Online student at the Baker School of Public Policy and Public Affairs. Kory currently serves as Manager of Electric Distribution System Engineering at Memphis Light, Gas, and Water Division in Memphis, Tennessee, where he leads a team of more than 130 professionals across five engineering and support areas. He is passionate about modernizing the electric grid, mentoring the next generation of engineers, and building infrastructure that strengthens and serves the community.

A proud three-time engineering graduate of the University of Memphis and a graduate of Vanderbilt University’s Executive MBA program, Kory brings both technical expertise and strategic leadership experience that helps him during his time at the Baker School.

Kory chose the Baker School for its reputation for developing leaders who can bridge strategy and execution. “The program’s emphasis on practical, real-world application and collaborative learning aligns with my goals of advancing in the utility industry while making a meaningful impact in my community,” he said. He believes the diverse perspectives the Baker School fosters will challenge his thinking, broaden his leadership approach, and prepare him to take on greater responsibilities.
