Abstract
This study estimates the anticipated economic impacts of the proposed Crab Orchard Wind Farm, developed by Crab Orchard Wind, LLC, on Cumberland County and the state of Tennessee. Using economic impact analysis, the report evaluates the effects of both the construction phase and long-term operations on employment, personal income, gross domestic product (GDP), and state and local sales tax revenues. The findings indicate that construction of the wind farm would generate significant short-term economic activity, including a one-time increase of approximately $76.4 million in Tennessee’s GDP, with $27.3 million occurring within Cumberland County, along with corresponding increases in personal income. Long-term operations are projected to support seven full-time jobs and contribute approximately $2.9 million annually to the state’s GDP and $1.4 million annually to Cumberland County’s economy. Overall, the proposed wind farm is expected to create both direct and multiplier economic benefits, demonstrating the potential contribution of renewable energy investments to regional economic development.
